This year for Easter I wanted to be a little more festive and try some of the fun treats I’ve scrolled past over the years. One of those was a Birds Nest Rice Krispie Treat. I got the idea scrolling through Pinterest. Since I did not save the original pin, or I couldn’t find it, I went searching on the internet for recipes.
I stopped at the official Rice Krispie website to get the recipe for the Rice Krispie treats themselves. I did not use the name-brand products recommended because I am all for saving a few dollars where I can. Once I got the recipe, I made it in a Wok. They suggest a saucepan, but the Wok holds more and definitely made it easier to stir without making a mess. Speaking of the mess, boiling water in the Wok after making the Rice Krispies made it significantly easier to clean.

Next, to get the nest shape I put them into a greased silicone muffin pan and used my thumbs to make the indents of the nest. The silicone made it easy to get the Rice Krispies out once they had hardened. While the Rice Krispies were in the pan, I added sprinkles and the chocolate candy eggs. The sprinkles brought fun colors to the snacks and made the kids extra excited. This is an easy recipe to turn into a family activity. Just so that you can try exactly what I had, if you would like, here are the brands I did use:

- Reese’s Pieces Eggs
- Crispy Rice Cereal by Malt O Meal
- Jet Puffed Marshmallows
- Wilton Sprinkles
- Kirkland Sweet and Salted Butter

Overall, this was a great experience, and the kids loved them! This is likely to become a yearly treat for our family.
